Kiss Your Heart Out & A Bachelor Recap

Photos by: Lindsay Teter
Tank: c/o Lucy & Lyla
Cardigan: c/o Lucy & Lyla
Shoes: J.Crew
Watch: Fossil

I wish this tank was still available at Lucy and Lyla because I LOVE it so much! I actually wore it on Valentine's Day when we went shooting. I paired it with my red and black plaid flannel shirt to be more festive. This outfit is a little more edgy than what I typically wear, but I really like all of the different textures.

Have you guys been watching The Bachelor?!?!? My husband and I are loving this season, and yesterday's episode didn't disappoint. Even though there really isn't anymore drama between the girls (my husband thinks that is the best part of the show), I really like the last two girls in the running for Chris's heart. I feel like they could live in Arlington with Chris and are there for the right reasons. And guess what?!?! The girls finally got to leave the country! I have felt like it was kind of refreshing for this season to stay in the U.S. (and New Mexico for those who think it's out of the country) because I felt like the dates were ideal dates that you do in your every day life. Yes they did get boring, BUT I really liked a lot of the dates and have saved them for dates that I can do with my husband.

Okay okay...back to the episode. I really really like Whitney. I feel like she's very mature, and she's ready for the next step in her life. I felt HORRIFIED when they showed her on the boat with Chris. Did anybody else notice her spray tan?! Her knees and ankles were so orange. I kept yelling at the t.v. to put a towel over herself, but she didn't.

I felt bad that this episode was all about Becca's virginity. Was it really necessary to keep going on and on about it? I really like her and it made my heart sink when she told Chris because he is such a horn dog that I didn't want him to kick her off just for that. Obviously things went well though, and Chris wasn't too hung up on that little tid bit from Becca.

Okay....the rose ceremony. Although I felt a little bit awkward about their get up, it was cool that they embraced the culture of Bali. Chris obviously really likes Becca because he tried to understand where she was coming from from previous conversation at the fantasy suite. Becca likes to take things slow (good for her!), but that doesn't always work on The Bachelor. Especially with Chris who wants a wife right away. So they talk things out, and the other girls think that Becca is getting sent home. But BAH BAH BAAAHHHHH....she comes back with Chris. And she gets a rose. Kaitlyn has to feel like someone gut punched her. I feel bad. Kaitlyn was growing on me, but I thought it was pretty obvious that she wouldn't survive in rural Arlington with farmer Chris. Her departure was really sad, and Chris was making it all about him and kept saying things like I probably made a mistake and I don't know what I'm doing (okay...please stop Chris). NOT the right thing to say to a girl who you just booted off the show.

Anyway....I feel bad for Kaitlyn. Break ups are hard, and I'm sure they're even worse when you know it will make national television and cameras will be in your face. So do you think she'll be the next Bachelorette? My husband thinks she is it, but I just don't know! I guess we will find out next week on The Women Tell All! I'm SUPER excited because this is one of my favorite episodes of the whole season. I can't wait for all of the drama to come out and to hear more of the behind the scenes gossip that happened at the mansion. Next Monday can't come soon enough!

Thanks for reading! xox

Leopard Baseball Tee via LulaRoe

Photography: Lindsay Teter

Tee: c/o LulaRoe by Brielle (Use code "BRIELLEDUBOIS for free shipping)
Flats: Tory Burch
Necklace: c/o Mindy Mae's Market (on sale!)
Bracelets: Alex & Ani / Taylor Morgan
Watch: Fossil

Have you guys heard of LulaRoe?? I hadn't heard of it until my friend Brielle started selling it (You can find her blog HERE). They have so many cute clothes! I really liked this baseball tee because it has the leopard sleeves. I have a slight obsession with leopard and baseball tee's, and I wear this shirt all the time!

Did you guys watch The Bachelor last night??? I was so excited that it's the two night edition because obviously I'm obsessed with The Bachelor. I was so excited to watch Andi's interview, but I felt SO bad the whole time. She is completely heart broken! And it's probably even worse sense it's in the public eye. Kelsey is just crazy, and I thought it was hilarious that the producers were putting up footage of her contradicting her statements. And last but not least....Brit. What was she thinking??? Well, I know what she was thinking, but it was super inappropriate of her to say how she felt in front of the girls. I guess we will see what happens tonight! xox

Friday Favorites: August Lush

(sorry my pictures/lighting aren't the best but the color was great)

Protecting your skin from UV rays from the sun and from tanning beds is a topic that I am very passionate about and one that I am happy to re-visit. As I've said in past posts, protecting your skin from the UV Rays is literally one of the easiest steps to healthier skin and one of the most important. As much evidence as there is that the sun and tanning beds are so dangerous, so many people seem to have a mindset that they're the exception. That it won't happen to them or that they're too young to get it. Well, skin cancer has no exceptions. As scary as it is to see, Melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer, is the most common form of cancer for young adults age 25-29 and the second most common form of cancer for young people between the ages 15-29. It is scary but it can be avoided. Wear your sunscreen every day and stay out of tanning beds.

I know that so many of you love having that tan though, you don't feel like yourself if you are too pale, I get it, but there are ways to stay protected and still get that. You know what I'm about to say, Self tanner. I have pretty much accepted the fact that I have super pale skin and I'm typically okay with it but from time to time I do feel the need to try the tan life. I recently had the opportunity to try out the Dancing with the Stars Flawless Tanning Kit and lets just say, the color was awesome. I get so nervous to turn orange with these self tanners but they have gotten so much better these days that it shouldn't be a huge worry anymore. The day before I got started I made sure that I shaved and exfoliated my skin really well, this is an important step. Then I made sure to watch the video which you can find here and read the instructions that I had received. I grabbed an old sheet and stood in my shower and sprayed one area at a time and rubbed it in if I needed to. Make sure you take your time when you're beginning so you don't miss any spots. Once I was finished, it dried really fast and didn't feel sticky which was nice considering I had to go to bed. I wore loose fitting clothes and went to bed and when I woke up I rinsed off in the shower and I was left with a really nice and not orange tan. This is definitely one that I would recommend for anyone who is considering self tanning. Plus I love what August Lush stands for so I fully support their cause to help raise awareness of how dangerous skin cancer is and how it can affect anyone. You can find them on Instagram and learn more about their personal skin cancer stories here

P.S. Happy Valentines Day tomorrow! We hope you all have a great weekend!

Happy Thursday! I can't believe the weekend is almost here again. This week has flown by, and thank goodness because my husband and I have really fun plans this weekend! We are going up to our friend's cabin for a weekend getaway to celebrate Valentine's Day. Shawna and her husband are coming too, so you know it's going to be a party.

Okay...now to the outfit I'm wearing. Guys-I'm obsessed with my shoes! Not only are they comfortable, but they are so unique. I love the shape and the pattern, and since I have so many navy colored clothes, they are the perfect addition to my wardrobe. You can find them HERE as well as many other really cute items.

I'm not going to do a bachelor recap this week (wah wah wahhh), but I will be writing one next week! You can read my favorite bachelor recap HERE, and watch my favorite recap HERE.

Thank you for stopping by! xox

August Lush

I have always been a sun/pool junkie. My ideal day is to lay by the pool with tanning oil and soak up the sun with my Sonic drink. I have olive toned skin, and I tan very quickly. My dad is the same way. My mom on the other hand, didn't inherit the best skin in the world. She has had quite a few skin cancers removed, and needs to go to the dermatologist more often. She grew up with a pool and would use tanning beds, but now she has to be so protective of her skin.

In college, I worked the 3-midnight shift at Vivint for the sole purpose of being able to go to the pool in the morning. I would wake up at 9am and take my breakfast down to the pool. I would stay at the pool until 2pm. This happened every day, unless I didn't work and then I would stay until 4 or 5. I was so tan. My skin started having a reaction to how much sun I was getting though, and I was getting weird blisters on my back and the inside of my arms were getting spotty. I knew that I needed to calm down my sun exposure. Since then, I've been more careful about wearing sunscreen and hats when I'm outside. My makeup has 30 SPF in it, and I put on a SPF30 sunscreen lotion on my face prior to putting on my makeup just to stay safe. I haven't had a tanning membership in 3 years, and I even have a tanning bed in my basement that hasn't even been touched (it's my in-laws, but they're in the process of moving/building so it's being stored in our basement).

Now here I am-22 years old. I am was the palest (is that a word?) I have ever been, and I honestly was not okay with it! I kept telling myself that I'll just use the tanning bed, and worry about the consequences later. I mean hello! it's February, you're going to be pale in the doom and gloom of winter, but I just needed some vitamin D-or at least some sort of color on my skin so I don't scare away the 3 year olds that we teach at church. Thankfully I found August Lush on Instagram! And now I feel like I owe them my first born child because I LOVE their spray tan, and I feel so much better with color on my skin! I used the dancing with the stars performance tan and their mitt that you can find HERE. Prior to using my spray tan, I watched their video HERE, and I made sure to read the directions that were in the box they shipped. I put a towel down on my bathroom floor that I didn't care about, and I made sure to spray each area one at a time and then rub in the solutions evenly. I did this once over, and made sure everything looked okay. Then, I used my blow dryer to set the solution better so I wouldn't get it all over my bed sheets, and then I slept in baggy clothes that night. The next morning I got up and took a shower (without soap), and TADA! I was SO happy with the color! It's definitely not orange, and it's such a nice subtle tan that I feel like it's summer again. I have always been nervous to try spray tanning because I've heard, and seen, horror stories. Since my mom has had skin cancer, I have made a promise to myself that I would take better care of my skin, even if it means less time in the sun. Thankfully, I love August Lush and their spray tan because it is a healthier alternative for your skin, and I can still have that summer tan that I've always loved.

You can find August Lush on Instagram and learn more about their skin cancer stories HERE. They also post discount codes that you do not want to miss out on!

Blue Coat and a Bachelor Recap

Top: J.Crew (old) similar
Coat: J.Crew (old) similar // similar
Boots: Frye (other colors are on sale)
Purse: c/o Handbag Heaven

When I saw this coat at J.Crew, I knew that I had to have it. Luckily my mom was just as obsessed with it as I was and bought it for me for Christmas! I wear it all the time, and I get so many compliments! I loved pairing it with my bright yellow purse from Handbag Heaven. My friend Brie from My Fashion Fancies posted a really similar outfit. I loved that she did an all black outfit with heels. Isn't she gorgeous?!

Okay-now for the Bachelor recap. I have been loving Michelle Money's recaps, so if you haven't been watching them you need to. You can watch them HERE. Okay lets start out with Kelsey because she kind of controlled this week's episode. I felt bad for her in the beginning because of her story, and now after her presentation of her story and how she got on camera and was saying how she loved her amazing story---I think she made it up! Is that bad? Maybe it's just my personality, and how I think I would handle things, but I wouldn't be telling someone that my husband passed away and then start making out. Also, I feel like the whole end of the episode thing was fake to get attention from Chris. I think she started having cold feet when he walked out of the room and might have felt like she wasn't going to get a rose. My husband thinks she made up the story too, and kept saying UGH I HATE HER! So there's that. haha!

Ashley I (Kardashley): Homegirl needs to calm.it.down. I understand that she's there to win over Chris's heart, but so are the rest of the 11 women there. He is going to take other girls on dates, and pouting about it and crying about it makes you look bad. Horrible actually. And desperate. I think one of her finer crying moments was when she found out about Kelsey's story and got on camera and said "ugh this sucks, now Kelsey has a way better story than I do and Chris is going to pick her." WHAT?!?! What is her story?! That she's a virgin. That's not really a story Ashley. And bravo to Whitney for standing up to her and telling her that just because you don't like the fact that Jordan showed up doesn't mean you need to be mean to her.

Carly: I feel really bad for Carly. She finally gets a 1 on 1 date with Chris, and it's completely awkward. They're both uncomfortable and then she had to say something about it! Which I admire. More girls need to be like that. I really like her, and I think she's a sweet girl. I felt like her and Chris connected on a more adult level in the sense that when they started taking it was real conversation instead of "Oh my gosh this is so amazing. Look at this view it's so amazing. This food is so amazing."

Whitney: LOVE her. That is all.

Becca: I love Becca. She is very mature, and I feel like she has a really good head on her shoulders. She doesn't talk bad about the other girls, and she doesn't go around throwing her virginity in your face.

Brit: I don't know how I feel about Brit. One minute I love her because she is GORGEOUS, and the fact that she doesn't shower just makes me laugh. Seriously, if you can look that good and not shower for days then good for you. When she got the date card my heart sank for her because I feel the exact same way that she does. I HATE heights. I get completely freaked out by it. I probably would have cried just like she did. What I don't like, is the fact that the girls said that Brit didn't want to get married or have kids. Granted, I'm sure that the conversation could have gotten misunderstood, but if that's really the case then please don't waste people's time and sign up for the bachelor.

And my one last comment on the whole episode is-New Mexico is a state, not a foreign country.

What were your thoughts on the bachelor?! xox

Boarding Pipah and Great Sales

Top: Clad & Cloth (on sale)
Jeans: American Eagle (buy one get one 1/2 off)
Boots: Frye (on sale)
Scarf: c/o Scarves Dot Net (on sale)

Happy Monday! Make sure to check out my outfit pieces because they are all on sale.

This past weekend Riley and I stayed up in Park City for a little weekend getaway. It was so nice to just relax and not have to worry about laundry or cleaning our home. We took Pipah to stay at this new dog boarding place in Murray, and oh my goodness it's amazing! You can check out their Facebook page HERE, Instagram HERE, and website HERE. It's this big warehouse type place with 2 big rooms for playing so they can separate the big dogs and the little dogs. The dogs get to play all day long, and they even have a swimming pool. It's a bit pricey because of all the really neat and luxurious accommodations for your dog, but they are running a 50% off special right now, and you can purchase days for future vacations because they don't expire! If you live in Utah you NEED to check this place out because your dogs will totally love it. We picked Pipah up yesterday around 2 and she passed out in the car ride home and then slept the rest of the day. Although she was a bit nervous at first, I think she really liked being able to run around all day with her furry friends.

I hope y'all had a great weekend! I'm super excited to watch the bachelor tonight. Make sure to check back for my recap on Wednesday! xox
